Adaware, a product from cybersecurity firm Lavasoft, (formerly known as Ad-Aware), is designed to combat the types of privacy-related threats and rogue applications that many users are unaware. This includes programs that track your surfing habits, courses that hijack the web page that opens your browser and apps that display annoying advertising at the most inconvenient times. This program is free and comes with many features that will boost your device’s security and ensure it runs smoothly.
In our tests, adaware was able to recognize the majority of the malware we tried to throw at it. However, it had trouble getting rid of certain malware. The program does have several useful extras such as a privacy monitor an registry scanner, a file shredder and advanced network monitoring. Adaware isn’t the same level of protection as best antivirus software.
Adaware’s participation in the AV Test lab tests resulted in the blocking of just 95. 4% of 0-day risks and 97% known risks. They’re not terrible however they do not compare to the top security suites do.
Adaware users who are looking for improved performance should consider alternatives. We recommend Kaspersky, Bitdefender and others because they are known for their reliability during real-world testing. Additionally, only Pro and Total plan users receive access to online technical and customer support, which can be a bit disappointing for certain users. The company does offer various information and Frequently Asked Questions on its website, however.
